While contemporary culture offers endless tools for self-expression, it also creates increasing visual standardization shaped by trend cycles, algorithms and collective aesthetics. What appears as individuality often becomes repetition, people from the same bubbles looking the same, dressing the same.
As a response to fastly changing trends and normed styles, GUTFRAU creates customs that underlines each persons individuality. Every piece is one-of-one, designed to resist repetition and exist outside of mass-produced sameness.
A strong emphasis is placed on working with pre-loved materials — especially when using materials of animal origin such as leather or silk to make sure no living being has to suffer for ones self expression.
Choosing existing pieces over newly produced ones is both a conscious decision and a creative one, making sure every item is as individual as the person wearing it.
