social media is dead!!!

I deleted my Instagram years ago — I think it was in 2018. I realized early on that the negative aspects of social media can be quite devastating, so I chose not to participate.
I reactivated it later when I needed it for work. At the time, I was creating custom pieces, and my clients were finding and acquiring my work through Instagram. But when I stopped painting to focus on my studies, I deleted all the apps again.
Of course, there were a few weeks or months when I used my private account to stay connected with people. When I went abroad for a while and met friends from all around the world, it was simply easier to exchange social media instead of phone numbers.
Over time, I understood why I mainly stayed away from Instagram, TikTok, and similar platforms. Each of us lives inside a small digital universe shaped by algorithms. And yes, there is so much amazing content out there — content that educates, that inspires, that entertains. But for me, it is mainly one thing: distracting.
If I want to educate myself, I prefer listening to a podcast. If I want to know what my friends are up to, I’d rather hear it from them in person than watch it on their stories. If I want to be entertained, I’ll have a movie night or read a book. The only way social media becomes a true source of inspiration and a valuable addition to my life is when I CREATE MORE THAN I CONSUME.
Which brings me back to why I started this blog in the first place: it’s my own little digital diary — a safe space where I can create, share, and express whatever I want, whenever I want without the intention for anyone to see. There's no pressure so many people feel about social media. No need to feed the algorithm, not about proving. It’s simply a source of inspiration and gratitude that I created for myself — something that gives me energy and focus instead of taking them away.

"i just f*cking love nostalgia"
